FAVOR provides an innovative response to the suffering caused by addiction for over 5,000 new individuals in Upstate South Carolina each year. Its work is part of a national recovery advocacy movement whose vision is to provide people affected by substance use disorders with access to the support they need to achieve and maintain long-term recovery. Every year, FAVOR orchestrates a fund-raising event called “Gifts of Recovery Luncheon” to help fund their nonprofit organization, show how they transform individual lives, and demonstrate the positive impact they have on the community. For this event, FAVOR asked The Modern Retro to design the GORL Save the Date Oversized Postcard (5.5 Inch X 8.5 Inch), Program (5.5 Inch X 8.5 Inch), and Table Top Columns. The Table Top columns illustrated one of ten featured individuals whose lives have had a positive change from the FAVOR program. These “stories” were placed on all the tables throughout the event and encouraged the attendees to pick up the column, rotate them around, see an introduction of the participant, and finally read a “Before” and “After” statement. The events’ table decorations featured a very minimal, but decorative monstera plant leaf, which was re-emphasized on the front of the Save the Date Postcard, and in the background of the Program and Table Top Columns. The design throughout all the printed material was kept very minimal with a gray, red, and white theme to reflect the minimal place setting of the luncheon. This also allowed the colors of the existing Gifts of Recovery Luncheon Logo, most notably the blue, to take precedence.
